Hospice is considered palliative care for those who have terminal illnesses. It is highly valuable because of its pursuit for maintaining dignity and compassion for the client during his or her dying days. Here in Baker-Katz Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, we take good care of our clients and their families, providing them privacy and counseling during this crucial period. Our Hospice Team may be composed of:
- The Resident’s Physician
- Hospice Medical Director
- Hospice Trained Volunteers
- Nurses and Nursing Assistants
- Pastoral Care Staff
- Social Workers
- Therapists
Respite Care, on the other hand, is offered to family members who are caregivers. We accept residents who intend to stay temporarily in our facility to give their loved ones a break from taking care of them. Respite Care offers health benefits through stress reduction, affording more time to family caregivers in doing other activities such as exercising and shopping and offering the residents themselves a change in environment and the chance to be cared for by professionals.
